The role of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is preventive and therapeutic and involves the developmental and psychiatric disorders of children and adolescents. Methods used are individual psychotherapy, parent consultation, family therapy and drug treatment, whenever necessary.
The Child Psychiatrist, however, gives great importance to prevention! He / she protects and facilitates the psychosocial development of children during periods of crisis in the family (eg during a parental divorce or a serious illness in the family), at school (eg in school bullying) and in any other situation where the psychological development of a child is at stake. In addition, the Child Psychiatrist guides any parent concerned in the care and education of his / her children in the field of their psychosocial development.
